My work begins by focusing on incomplete memories of places I have been,  feelings I have experienced, or
fragments of time. It takes form through intuitive decision making and elements of chance, balanced by conscious
mark making.

Surface texture, paired with merging flat and reflective qualities combine to draw the viewer in, while large colliding
forms make up the composition to enjoy from a distance. I often pair a hard edge with organic form to add definition
and lead the viewer through my paintings. I have a sense of place in mind while I am working, although along the way
it disseminates into a hint of a past impression.

Recently I have addressed my recollections of found spaces I frequented in childhood. Places that fueled my
imagination.  Fragments pulled from my allusive memories and reconfigured into a new space provide endless twists
on my self-portraits. My interest in manipulation of materials in my paintings could be a result of the necessary
resourcefulness that children often experience in play.

Passage of time is evident in the weathered appearance and awareness of gravity I apply to my paintings. Although
my work is heavily considered I like to present
it with a certain amount of levity, or randomness. While I look at the
past, I feel the element of chance reflects the uncertainty of the future.
